Estate of Mind – 5 Acres

This charming very private nature lovers villa is situated on an unusual 5 acre spread only a five minute walk above the Four Seasons golf course, with terrific views. This is one of the most popular locations on the island above Pinneys beach, which is considered the best swimming beach on the island.  Situated at an elevation of 700 feet with gentle breezes providing comfortable year round temperatures.

Two of the best hiking trails can be walked from the property. It is only 12 minutes from town, 15 minutes from the airport and close to any other activities you wish to experience. The villa is approached by local dry stone walls on either side of a 600ft winding driveway that ends with a turning circle with the villa and cottage opposite each other.

The Villa is one of a kind on Nevis with the unique architecture providing an indoor/ outdoor ambience that makes it so special along with fabulous views of St Kitts and the ocean from every room. It is eclectically furnished with speciality items brought from the States. 

 As you enter the villa into the living room and dining area, the breath taking panorama of St Kitts sits majestically framed by only a few pillars and the swimming pool with paintings of monkeys on the overhead arch. Gazing over the pool is a six foot wide waterfall dropping into the stone walled garden below.

The planning of the garden has been arranged to see most of the larger flowering plants and trees as one gazes at views across the ocean. There are also planters hugging the pool. The surrounding terraces are the perfect oasis for breakfast, relaxing, yoga, and an evening sundowner while you listen to the soothing waterfall or fountain and take in an array of banana quits and humming birds.

Both properties are styled in a shabby chic fashion, with stripped wooden floors, large shuttered windows, bohemian furnishings and lots of storage.

SITTING ROOM/DINING ROOM

The sitting room and dining room open out onto the pool and the terrace and are furnished with a large dining set, comfortable sofas and a central chandelier.  The open walls allow constant cooling breezes making it a most inviting space. It is charmingly decorated and gives it a unique and whimsical feel.

DEN

This snug room is off the main sitting room with a comfy sofa bed and wall mounted TV – the perfect hideaway to catch up on all your TV action!

KITCHEN

The large well equipped kitchen is fitted out with wooden wall units and wall cupboards on three sides.  It comes with a fridge/freezer, electric oven, gas top burners, dishwasher, microwave and double sink and has a lovely louvred window to keep the breezes flowing. It is finished off perfectly with a large chandelier.

Off the kitchen is a walk-in pantry and cooks washroom along with a small freezer/icemaker and refrigerator

MASTER BEDROOM with ENSUITE BATHROOM

This lovely room opens out on to the terrace with 2 sets of traditional wood mahogany louvred doors.  It is furnished with a canopied bed, draped in a mosquito net. It provides views over the pool while still keeping your privacy and also a view of St Kitts and the ocean. It provides an extra sink and sitting area.

There is an ensuite bathroom with a semi outdoor shower off a palm tree and a walk in dressing room. The side porch offers a private sitting area and an antique tub with gorgeous views of the properties many plantings that you can soak in while you watch the sun go down.

GUEST BEDROOM with ENSUITE BATHROOM

The guest bedroom opens out on the terrace on two sides with mahogany wooden, louvred doors.  It also has a ensuite bathroom with antiques for the sink cabinet and towel or sheet storage. The double barn like door next to the shower can be opened for an outdoor view while cooling off in the shower.

There is also a private terrace off it for stretching out with a book and great view.

BUNK ROOM

This cosy room also opens on to the terrace with the same beautiful doors but along with side doors available for privacy for the bunk room and guest room when using of the bathroom. Perfect for the grandchildren.

All the flooring for the rooms is attractive Mexican terracotta interspersed with tile that looks like wood for accent and matches the colour of the mahogany doors throughout the villa.

COTTAGE

The guest cottage is a self contained one bedroom structure, built in traditional West Indian Style.  It has a large verandah with a fully equipped kitchenette with a slight view of the ocean. The sitting room has a dazzling view of the mountain and door that opens to small sitting area with the same view. The rest includes the bedroom, bathroom including a small indoor and large outdoor shower, and snug office that can also be set up as a bunk room.  

GARDENS

The owner has planted a dizzying array of flowers, shrubs and trees around the house and throughout the property and has created clever pathways through the estate so you can enjoy all the flora and fauna the Caribbean has to offer. There is part of the property left with the original rainforest plants and palm trees (including a cashew tree!) that have been maintained along with a jungle path which is one of the owners favourite spots. The horse and two pet donkeys are contained in the middle of the property and are let loose half the day to graze.

Exterior

The walls inside and out are finished with a coating that does not need to be painted and is maintenance free. The ceilings and most of the wooden is pickled so no repainting is required and the outside roof will last forever, it is resistant to fire and maintenance free. It was imported from Belgium and looks like the traditional curved roof tile from Mexico.
